Her half-siblings are younger, Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder's family relocated to Mendocino County in California at the age of 7 years old. The family didn't have electricity. There was no television books were the only way for Ryder for her time, and she was a voracious reader. Ryder began taking acting classes when Ryder was twelve years old, and was enrolled in classes at the American Conservatory Theatre. Ryder landed her first film role on the large screen in 1986 at the age of 15 older. Ryder was bullied throughout high school. Her acting career, she hoped, would help her. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. But she pushed on with her goals. Beetlejuice, a 1988 Tim Burton film, was her first big break. Ryder was able to continue her successful performances in a variety of films. In 1993, Ryder was nominated two times for Academy Awards.
